5 interesting facts that you only discover in Africa

1-The human race originated in Africa

The human race is believed to have originated in Africa, specifically in the area known as the Rift Valley. The first Homo sapiens are thought to have appeared in this region around 200,000 years ago. The exact reasons why Homo sapiens first appeared in Africa are still unknown, but various theories have been proposed. One theory suggests that the change in climate that occurred in Africa around this time made it necessary for human beings to develop new methods of hunting and gathering in order to survive. Another theory suggests that the first Homo sapiens may have arisen as a result of interbreeding between different Homo species that were already present in Africa.

2- Africa has the world’s largest waterfall

The Victoria Falls is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River. The waterfall is between Zambia to the north and Zimbabwe to the south. According to Wikipedia, The Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. It is nearly two miles (3 km) wide and between 354 feet (108 m) and 365 feet (111 m) high, making it the largest waterfall in the world. The falls are formed as the Zambezi River flows over the lip of a plateau and into a series of gorges below. The Zambezi is one of the world’s great rivers, and the Victoria Falls is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.

3- Africa has the world’s largest hot desert

The Sahara desert is the largest hot desert in the world, located in North Africa. It covers an area of 9.0 million square kilometers, making it almost as large as China or the United States. The Sahara desert is home to a variety of wildlife, including camels, snakes, lizards, and rodents. The desert is also home to the world’s largest desert lake, like Lake Chad.

4-The world’s longest river is the Nile

The Nile is a major north-flowing river in northeastern Africa, and is commonly regarded as the longest river in the world, though some sources cite the Amazon River as the longest. The Nile, about 6,650 km (4,130 miles) long, is an “international” river as its water resources are shared by eleven countries, namely, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, South Sudan, Sudan and Egypt. In particular, the Nile is the primary water source of Egypt and Sudan.

The river Nile has two major tributaries, the White Nile and Blue Nile. The White Nile is considered to be the headwaters and primary stream of the Nile itself. The Blue Nile, however, is the source of most of the water and silt. It rises in the Great Ethiopian Highlands in Ethiopia, close to Lake Tana, and from there flows generally south through Sudan and into Egypt, eventually meeting the White Nile at Khartoum. The northern section of the river flows almost entirely through desert, from Sudan into Egypt, a country whose civilization has depended on the river since ancient times. Most of the population and cities of Egypt lie along those.

5- The world’s largest bird is the ostrich, which is found in Africa

The ostrich is the largest bird in the world. It is a native of Africa and can grow to be up to 9 feet tall and weigh up to 350 pounds. The ostrich is easily recognizable by its long neck and legs, and its large, brown body. Ostriches are herbivores and feed on leaves, grasses, and fruits.
